In the U.S., a consumer's credit history
is compiled by consumer reporting agencies or credit bureaus.
The data reported to these agencies are primarily provided to them by
creditors
and includes detailed records of the relationship a person has with the
lender. Detailed account information, including payment history, credit
limits, high and low balances, and any aggressive actions taken to collect
previous financial commitments. There are primarily three credit collection
agencies used for reporting consumer credit profiles in the USA, Experion,
TransUnion and Equifax. Consumers should review the data collected about
them on a regular basis. It is not uncommon to find out dated or in accurate
data on ones credit history report. You have the right to have inaccurate,
outdated or incomplete data revised if you can prove otherwise. You also
have the right to submit a personal statement to be included with all
credit inquires.
